L03- Setting up PhotoShop

 300 resolution is a high quality resolution used for printing in the publishing sector. This resolution means that the final product will not look pixilated at a lower resolution that what is considered standard. This resolution also means the file I'll be using will be lossless. However, the downside of this is that it will take up a lot of file storage. 

Double page spread ideas 

For my double page spread, I will have one of my pages dedicated to being all about a snooker player and his opinions on the sport. This could be a guy who plays it for fun, or someone who plays the sport professionally. Next I could then right about the comment he has stated, and explain how this comment could have an effect on the world of snooker. For example, this could be based on how unpredictable the sport is, or how fun it can be when playing it, along with how much it can mean to the people who watch snooker seeing their country being represented in that sport, to bring a sort of diversity in sports for that country. Also, another idea I could right about on the double page spread, is the increase in women playing the sport. This is because women snooker may not be as popular as the men's snooker, but can be just as competitive and entertaining as the men's snooker. I could also get a snooker fan or snooker player, and get her opinions on how women who play snooker overcome the media backlash and continue to challenge the men's snooker in viewership and range of competitions.

These questions would be good on a double page spread, as I will be able to write down all the responses to the quotes said about the person who is the main focus on the magazine. It also allows me to write it in full detail and write down complete answers, that would interest my audience.

 Photo Analysis 

With the 7 photos that I have taken I will probably only use 5 of the ones I have currently taken. This is because with some of the photos I have taken the quality is poor, and hides much detail compared to what I have taken on other photos. 

For example, my photo which holds the most quality, is the second photo in black and white. This is because I timed the photo correctly giving me a shutter speed on the cue ball as it was being hit. I will use this photo in a few of my pages, due to how it stands out. Also, the photo I will not be using is the first one I have taken.  This is because the snooker table is too exposed by the light that is above the snooker table.  However, I could edit the photo in an attempt to down the exposer on the picture. 

Another photo that I will use is the last picture that I took. This is because the photo that I had taken is low down to make the snooker que and the balls around it look larger compared to their normal size if I was to take a normal photo. By doing this it gives the main focus of the image more detail as it is close up along with drawing more attention to those in the image. I will use this image as one of my pages, as I could do contents about the inside of snooker due to it being a close up image. 

Overall, I will probably use the other photos in my magazine as it has the right amount of content and detail that I feel is best for the magazine and the contents going on the magazine.

 Legal and Ethical Law:

• Obscene publication Act- Illegal to publish content that may negatively influence the readers: making sure featured content is for the right audience. Audience: 58% Female, 65% ABC1 , 670 relationship. It is illegal to publish defamatory (harmful) content about a person or publish untrue information. 

The viewership for Snooker is mainly male dominant with 60% of the demographic being people over the age of 60. This means that the readership for the magazine would be a much older audience being the primary audience of those who have followed snooker for years. Since the audience is male dominated, there are still women who are into snooker and could have more of an interest to the sport. 

When I am writing up the facts and statistics for my magazine, I will make sure I use a trusted source to gather up my research. Also, for my magazine, if I was to reference any snooker player, or talk about the gender diversity between the sport, I would have to make sure what I say is true, without offending anybody with false information that could potentially be seen as an insult. The issue with this too is the fact that if i was to challenge these stereotypes, i could also get negative criticism from my main audience who don't believe in women snooker becoming more popular, and having potential in the future of sports with viewership's.   

How to challenge this stereotype?

The way this stereotype is by having contents in the magazine explaining how women have began to take over and explain how this can be beneficial to the sport. However, many people have criticized the women's snooker league, saying that they cannot concentrate on the sport. This was said by a professional snooker woman Reanne Evans "I think women find it difficult just to concentrate on snooker." 

• Libel Law- (form of slander) damaging of someone's reputation, with false acclaims about that person/party.  This can be used on magazines, newspapers and political rallies to damage their opponents reputation to benefit them. Libel can be easily proven, as it can involve written demands and other handwritten statements.      
• Copyright- Allows producers of content to protect their intellectual property and for it not to be used without permission. 

For my magazine i will using people to be my models for the images that will feature on my magazine. To avoid copyright i will take my own photos with my own equipment, while getting consent forms from my models. 

I have produced my own masthead, along with my own quotes which will show that the magazine will feature my own content and potentially things they had never seen before.  

• Laws of contempt- It is a criminal offence to publish content that posses a risk to justice in proceedings. Prevents magazines from publishing anything that is too sensationalist about a criminal case.
